Music for a cause

In times like the ones we are living in right now, active charity work is more important than ever before. While some celebrities do charity work either privately or discreetly, there are others who have proper organizations and systems in place to do charity work.

Fashion Collection looks at some music celebrities who are doing commendable work.

Momina Mohtesham

She promotes numerous social causes like education and mental health. She has mostly spoken on issues like the role of women in Pakistan and is a Feminist. Also, a member of UN Women in Pakistan, Momina has not only a beautiful voice but is an actual beauty and a kind-hearted soul. Momina is a strong supporter for education and says, “No nation can progress or prosper without the strong foundation of education. If the population is educated, issues like human rights and women empowerment will automatically be aided because the people will be more aware of the benefits that come with them.”

Shahzad Roy

Shehzad Roy is a popular Pakistani singer, a social worker and a humanitarian to serve as a renown and commanding face for UNODC’s cause. He is the President and founder of Zindagi Trust, a non-government charitable organization that strives to improve the quality of education available to the average Pakistani.

“It is disheartening to see children imprisoned for petty crimes or drugs ruining the lives of young people. If I can help one child out of prison or convince just one boy or girl to turn away from drugs, I feel proud that I have made a difference,” said Roy.

Ali Zafar

Ali Zafar recently sponsored a young squash player, Noorena Shams, for an international tournament. She is now believed to be the youngest Olympian in Pakistan. “I never imagined that a film hero would become my real-life hero. Ali fulfilled my dreams,” said Shams, in a statement. Ali also works for the betterment of cancer patients. He performs at various shows to raise funds for them. “While I try to do my bit, I also urge others to do so,” says Ali. The singer shot a video recently to raise funds to build schools in Peshawar.
