Top 5 Eye Shadow Palettes & Are they worth all the hype?

This topic is a bit of a materialistic dilemma. I am super obsessed with eye shadows and the world of wonderful pressed pigments. However, I find it extremely difficult to pick out a palette, because of the crazy amount of variety out there for me to waste my money on.
So it’s ENOUGH! I have conducted a list of the top 5 Eye Shadow Palettes and their pros and cons.

Anastasia Beverly Hills Amrezy

It goes without a doubt that Anastasia Beverly Hills has taken the makeup industry like a storm. Whether it’s the contour palettes, eyebrow tints, or even her wide range of lipsticks, it is no surprise that her eye shadow palettes should be anything less. The Amrezy palette is a great player for a mixture of pinks, nudes browns, and even some cooler tones. This happens to be one of the first higher ends palettes I ever owned and has surely been used for various occasions creating looks to go to work I used the Nudes, night out? The cool blue, shimmer, and black, day out in the Sun? A range of pinks to make a look happen. This palette is a great starter palette for those looking to purchase from the higher price range of the market.

So to summarize it can be said that we have a collection of great palettes come from ABH, however, is it actually worth the money?

Too Faced Pretty Rich Diamond Light Eye Shadow Palette

To be honest, I am not a fan of Too Faced due to their horrible ethics and behaviour towards makeup artists and bloggers. However, 3 products of their’s are worth the hype and one of them being the PRETTY RICH palette. The packaging is great to look giving it a very RICH feel, also a little heavy to hold, and the eyeshadows are vibrant neutrals with cold tones within the mix. Colours look amazing on my skin tone, however, I found the colours to pop even more when applied with an eyeshadow primer as a base. The NYX white eye primer does the job really well, therefore I suggest when purchasing this do so with the Primer.

Pat Macgrath Bronze Temptation

I cannot help but love Pat Mcgrath and her world of incredible pigments. Of course, cannot lie about the fact her palettes also range into the BOUJI side of affordability, but honestly, I can’t help but love and appreciate her range of Eye shadows. More specifically the Bronze Temptation palette, the colours POP and are off the charts, and when I say POP I mean all the shebang that comes with the word.

Natasha Denona Sunrise

So this is a tough one, Natasha Denona’s Palettes are amazing, her LOVE palette is also another one that I use regularly. But, when it comes to affordability her palettes are beyond BOUJIE. Even though these palettes are ranging at around £60, most of her palette retailers at £130 and to be extra BOUJIE her self named Green/Brown & Blue/Purple retail at a whopping £205! Save your £’s sisters! You only need to be interested in Sunrise and maybe even LOVE if you are feeling candy floss threw up on your face.

The SUNRISE shade range is great, welcoming warm tones, and can do wonders with any skin tone. Pigmentation is vibrant and blends incredibly well as you blend.

Huda Beauty Nude

For me, this Palette is the go to palette for every occasion. Looking at the palette you cannot describe it purely as nude, because of the vibrant pinks and deep maroons within the shades. But as Huda described this upon launch this is her “version” of NUDE. So whether you call it vibrant pinks are the new NUDE or Huda has gone Pink blind NUDE, this palette has worn for every opportunity. The pigmentation is off the chart! The consistency is creamy to the touch and soft on your skin, most importantly once applied the colours last all day with no creasing.

However, the only negative I find for this palette is the shade called Concealed which actually is a concealer base to apply before applying any of the shades. It’s a waste of shade space personally, I feel another shade could have been added to the collection than wasting it on a universal concealer and that is just a personal preference. Overall, this is THE palette for every makeup lover to own.

Overall, with all the options we have now it’s a surprise I even managed to narrow this down to a top 5, and I am pretty sure over time this opinion is bound to change and grow into something totally unexpected.
