Severe Backlash for Rahat Fateh Ali Khan

Severe Backlash

Following intense criticism sparked by a covert video depicting Rahat Fateh Ali Khan engaging in physical abuse towards an individual he later identified as his student, and an unsuccessful apology video subsequently removed from his Instagram, the qawwal has released another “apology” video. In his “special message,” the renowned ‘Afreen Afreen’ singer initially sought forgiveness from God, emphasizing the equality of all individuals in the eyes of the divine. Expressing his commitment to avoid repeating such behavior, Khan asserted that the viral video was nine months old and attributed its dissemination to his former management company, PME Entertainment, from which he recently departed. He alleged that the company had been producing these videos without his consent for an unspecified duration. Khan further stated that the company had “planned other” videos and began releasing them following his press conference announcing his separation from them. However, notably absent from his statement was an apology directed towards Naveed Hasnain, the student whom he physically lashed out at for misplacing a ‘bottle’.

However, with new leadership at the helm, the PCB has extended an olive branch to Ali Zafar, offering him the opportunity to once again showcase his musical talents in the eagerly awaited PSL anthem.
