Mahira Khan, a UNHCR Goodwill Ambassador since 2019, has appealed to the Pakistani government to maintain its support for Afghan residents in the country. Using images featuring the UNHCR logo, she urged the nation to ensure the safety of “our Afghan brothers and sisters in need.” The Pakistani government had set a deadline of November 1 for ‘illegal immigrants’ to leave the country, initiating the potential deportation of around 1.7 million ‘illegal’ Afghan immigrants and other undocumented foreigners. Following the expiration of the voluntary departure deadline, the government began detaining ‘illegal’ Afghan refugees in holding centers.

He openly opposed the slogan without acknowledging its context, embodying a typical misogynistic stance.
